Description

The Quality Technician reports directly to the Quality Manager and works collaboratively with personnel. There are no direct reports associated with this position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use precision measuring instruments and testing equipment to determine conformance to required specifications.
  • Inspect, test, sort, or measure materials, products and work for conformance to specifications.
  • Program and operate CMM equipment.
  • Reject non‑conforming items using a defined process.
  • Analyze and interpret blueprints, data, manuals, procedures and other materials to determine specifications and inspection/testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and measuring instruments required.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the quality area, tools and equipment at all times.
  • Document test results/procedures and inspection data, evaluate compliance with standards and submit to customer.
  • Use computers to enter, access, or retrieve data and create reports.
  • Work closely with local customer quality representatives to investigate concerns or root causes and evaluate improvement effectiveness.
  • Maintain the plant’s ISO equipment calibration and performance records and perform calibrations as required by defined procedures.
  • Focus on customer satisfaction, involving face‑to‑face communication with individuals or teams; work cooperatively to improve departmental metrics as required, maximizing value and reducing costs.
  • Perform audits, including CI team plant audits, ISO internal audits, and dock audits.
Job Demands and Expectations

All Quality Technicians are expected to update job knowledge on an ongoing basis by identifying and participating in functionally related educational opportunities.

Qualifications and Competencies
  • Certified Quality Technician – Preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to produce coherent documents free of errors.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • PC‑DMIS programming preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprint specifications and orthographic projection.
  • Solid Works preferred.
  • In English; ability to read, write, interpret and verbally communicate technical instructions.
  • Strong understanding of metal fabrication techniques.
  • Dependability: follows procedures, responds to management direction, takes responsibility, keeps commitments, meets deadlines.
  • Problem‑solving: utilizes creative talents and skills to resolve problems and develop workable solutions.
  • Attendance/Punctuality: consistently at work and on time, covers responsibilities when absent, prepared for meetings.
  • Peer relations: manages difficult or emotional employee situations, good communication, solicits feedback to improve service.
  • Oral communication: speaks clearly and persuasively, listens, clarifies, responds well to questions, presents engagingly.
  • Written communication: writes clearly and informatively, edits for correctness, presents numerical data effectively.
Education
  • Associate’s degree from a two‑year college or technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience, is preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum of two years of experience within a manufacturing environment is required, preferably in metal fabrication or a related industry.
