Position

Description:

The Quality Lab Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Quality Lab and Inspection Department. This position leads and supports Quality Technicians and Inspectors to ensure all customers, regulatory, and company quality requirements are met. The Quality Lab Supervisor is responsible for prioritizing inspection activities, coordinating resources to support production schedules, ensuring timely release of conforming products, and maintaining effective communication with Operations, Engineering, and Customers as needed.

This position reports directly to the Quality Manager and plays a key leadership role in ensuring products are inspected, documented, and released on time to meet customer delivery commitments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions
  • Perform in-process and final inspections of manufactured parts.
  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of Quality Technicians and Quality Inspectors
  • Schedule and prioritize inspection activities to support production and customer delivery requirements.
  • Ensure inspection results, certifications, and documentation are completed accurately and on time.
  • Monitor workflow within the Quality Lab and allocate resources to eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Verify compliance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards.
  • Review first article inspections, in-process inspections, and final inspections for completeness and accuracy.
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, Planning, and Shipping departments to ensure orders are released on schedule.
  • Lead containment activities and disposition of nonconforming materials.
  • Assist the Quality Manager in root cause investigations and corrective action implementation.
  • Review and approve inspection reports and quality records as required.
  • Coordinate calibration activities and ensure measuring equipment remains compliant and operational.
  • Support customer audits, internal audits, and certification activities.
  • Monitor department performance metrics and develop action plans to improve quality and delivery performance.
  • Train, mentor, and develop inspection personnel.
  • Enforce company safety policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements Experience & Education
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Associate degree in Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Associate degree in Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing quality experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of leadership, supervision, or team lead experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of precision machining and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience using precision measurement equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and other inspection tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and GD&T.
  • Experience with quality management systems and ISO 9001 requirements required.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 13485 quality systems preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
