ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Repair or assist in repairing damaged pavement with asphalt, cold patching materials, or concrete
  • Material handling including loading, unloading, and distributing materials and tools
  • Clean and maintain drainage ditches and culverts
  • Assist with traffic control around work sites to ensure safety.
  • Perform a variety of tasks as assigned, such as cleaning, debris removal, and assisting with construction projects
  • Operate various types of tools & equipment including but not limited to: two-way radios, compressor with air hammer, push lawn mowers, lawn tractors, weed eaters, power tools, shovels, rakes, brooms, mops, vacuums, wheelbarrows, etc.
  • Maintain work areas and equipment clean and operable
  • Interact with co-workers and the public with tact and diplomacy
  • Maintain a positive attitude and consistent performance
  • Manage time, make sound decisions and work independently
  • Follow directions and relay work progress in an effective manner
  • Follow safety procedures, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as apparent or as assigned.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have demonstrable skill/ability to proficiently operate equipment

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment will be primarily working outside in various weather conditions (extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, snow, etc.). While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts, around fumes or airborne particles, vibrations and may have exposure to oil, greases, solvents and other chemicals, bio‑solids, compost and dust. Noise conditions can vary from quiet to very loud.
