Maintenance Technician
As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing assigned facilities and their assets, supporting operations inspections, and performing maintenance processes on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and food equipment. You will assist Mobile Engineers and Control System Technicians, train and support Maintenance Mechanics, and perform tasks independently.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain lighting system bulbs and ballasts.
- Conduct minor electrical troubleshooting and repairs.
- Troubleshoot and repair motors and pumps.
- Assist the operations team in the maintenance and repair of building and equipment.
- Perform general interior maintenance such as HVAC/R equipment, auto/overhead doors, and food equipment.
- Conduct rooftop refrigeration, auto/overhead doors, and food equipment preventive maintenance.
- Perform plumbing repairs.
- Participate in on-call after-hour calls as needed.
- Comply with safety procedures and maintain good housekeeping and safety of work areas.
- Recognize danger and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them.
- Maintain compliance with State, County, or City ordinances, codes, or laws.
- Comply with policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Document work performance and materials procurement as directed.
- Support a wide range of conveyors and sortation systems.
- Troubleshoot and maintain equipment such as scanners, printers, scales, and networks.
- Identify, maintain, and troubleshoot PLCs and PLC components.
- Assist Mobile Engineers.
Essential
Skills:
- Ability to identify and maintain food service equipment.
- Ability to identify, maintain, and troubleshoot control network components.
- Experience with motor controls, including motor starters, Variable Frequency Drives, and DC drives.
- Electrical hands-on experience and troubleshooting, including 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24
VDC systems. - Reasoning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Knowledge of SCADA systems and KPIs.
- Ability to train others with lesser skills.
- Ability to access all levels and areas of the facility.
- Ability to interpret and understand policies and procedures.
- Valid state driver's license.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 80 lbs, use ladders up to 30 ft, and possess mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and driving required.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to comply with both company and client-directed policies and procedures.
- Self-motivated individual who can work independently or in a team environment.
- Must pass drug/alcohol, and MVR screening process.
Additional Skills &
Qualifications:
- Completion of an applicable technical training program is desirable.
- Minimum of one year of applicable working experience in general building repair and maintenance, basic plumbing, and basic electrical.
- Systems controls knowledge or programming experience.
- EPA Certification Type 1 or 2 or Universal.
- Ability to identify, maintain, and troubleshoot UPS components.
- Experience with advanced automation controls systems.
- UST Class B Certification.
- 1+ years of general facilities maintenance experience (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing).
- Experience in a commercial or industrial setting.

Work Environment:
This position is based in South Bend, Indiana, and requires flexibility with work hours and days, as the operation runs 7 days a week, including holidays. The role involves physical activities such as climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and driving. You will be provided with the necessary tools to perform your duties efficiently in a safe and customer-focused manner.
