Advanced Locating and Pipeline Services Technician

Location: South Bend, IN

Position Summary:

The Advanced Locating and Pipeline Services Technician is responsible for maintaining and protecting coverage area while following company policies and safety regulations. They ensure compliance with client and state requirements, observe, locate, mark, and document pipeline locations underground and exposed, audit, locate, verify, and fix problems for utility customers, and work independently or in a team under supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Locate underground facilities using multiple methods.
  • Fix broken tracer wires and perform pipe to soil readings.
  • Conduct corrosion readings and tack weld tracer wires onto pipe.
  • Expose utilities by hand and use vacuum truck when necessary.
  • Communicate with management, contractors, and utility customers to ensure damage‑free excavation.
  • Work with others in a supervised team environment.
  • Use company vehicle, laptop, smartphone, uniforms and personal protective equipment.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalency (GED).
  • Minimum 1 year of pipeline locating experience; 1 year of utility locating required.
  • Proficiency with multiple types of utility locating equipment and ability to resolve non‑routine issues.
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and deciphering multiple types of prints.
  • Background screening with no violations in the last 3 years and passing a DOT drug test.
  • Driver's license.
  • Ability to lift over 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Schedule

10‑hour shift, 12‑hour shift, on‑call, weekends as needed.

Job Type

Full‑time.

Compensation

$20.00 – $28.00 per hour.
