Role OverviewIn this hands-on field role, you will perform commercial HVACR service work for light commercial and/or heavy commercial customers. You will troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and replace heating and cooling equipment, support commissioning and aftermarket service, and help customers improve facility performance and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
- Troubleshoot commercial HVACR equipment including rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, and plumbing-related components.
- Partner with journeymen on centrifugal, steam turbine, and open-drive screw chiller repairs.
- Identify facility inefficiencies and service-related issues during commissioning and aftermarket service visits.
- Recommend solutions, prepare quotes, and support upselling opportunities that improve system performance and customer outcomes.
- Communicate problem, cause, and corrective actions clearly to customers and internal teams.
- Work with local market mechanics, servicemen, apprentices, and branch colleagues to support customer service and repair needs.
- Use mechanical shaft alignment and vibration equipment to troubleshoot drive lines, pumps, fans, and compressors.
- Follow safe work practices and complete assigned tasks to the highest standard.
- Own each service call with accountability, safety, and integrity, ensuring the work is completed correctly and professionally.
- Stay close to the work and the customer, listen carefully, and remove barriers that delay service or resolution.
- Use practical troubleshooting and clear problem-solvingto find root causes, not just symptoms, and make durable repairs.
- Improve every day through candor and learning, applying training from the Service Technical Academy (STA) and lessons from the field.
- Win as one teamby collaborating with journeymen, apprentices, and branch teammates and respecting diverse perspectives.
- Prioritize safety in every stepfor yourself, your customers, and the sites you support.
- Membership in, or willingness to join, the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
- Minimum of three years of commercial and/or industrial mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry.
- Practical work experience in HVAC piping, plumbing, pipe fitting, and/or mechanical equipment service.
- Practical working experience with light commercial or commercial mechanical equipment.
- Mechanical shaft alignment experience using dial indicators.
- Experience using vibration equipment to troubleshoot drive lines.
- Ability to pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
- Ability to write and communicate service problems, root causes, and corrective actions clearly.
- Self-starter with a desire to learn and apply new skills on the job.
- Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and a valid driver's license.
- Willingness to travel 10% to 20% to support branch customer activities, troubleshooting, installation, and repair.
- Experience supporting centrifugal, steam turbine, or open-drive screw chiller service.
- Experience with commissioning, aftermarket service, or sales quoting in commercial HVAC environments.
- Exposure to quoting recommendations and customer solutions that improve facility efficiency.

Pay Range: $47.68 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
