Performs a variety of manual labor, maintenance, and operational duties in support of the Traffic & Lighting Workgroup. Responsibilities include assisting with the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic control devices, street lighting systems, departmental facilities, and grounds. Operates City vehicles and equipment and performs related duties as assigned under direct or indirect supervision.

• Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic signs, traffic signal equipment, streetlights, pavement markings, and related infrastructure.
• Perform routine maintenance, repair, and upkeep of Traffic & Lighting facilities, equipment, buildings, and grounds.
• Operate pickup trucks and other light-duty vehicles in the performance of assigned duties.
• Load, unload, move, and transport materials, tools, and equipment.
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment, including shovels, air hammers, compressors, mowers, string trimmers, and related equipment.
• Assist with traffic control activities, including the placement and removal of barricades, cones, signs, and other traffic control devices.
• Maintain work zones in accordance with established safety practices and traffic control procedures.
• Perform general grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, weed control, litter removal, and facility cleanup.
• Conduct routine inspections and report equipment deficiencies, hazards, or needed repairs.
• Maintain assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment in a clean and safe operating condition.
• Perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday, including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
• Safely lift and/or assist in lifting materials and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Participate in emergency response operations, snow and ice control activities, and other departmental operations as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of basic construction, maintenance, and work crew practices.
• Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and traffic safety regulations.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, vehicles, and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to identify workplace hazards and follow appropriate safety protocols.
• Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Ability to perform strenuous physical labor for extended periods

• High school diploma or GED preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Previous experience in construction, maintenance, public works, traffic operations, landscaping, or a related field is preferred but not required.

• Valid state-issued driver's license required.
