Position: Parts Chaser - Part Time (IN, South Bend)

up to $15.45 per hour.

Schedule

Monday–Friday; 9:00am – 2:00pm. Hours may vary based on operational needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Picks up parts and supplies daily as needed. Performs inventory control, and related work as assigned. Unload delivery trucks, checks in and receives parts in fleet system.

  • Pick up parts, tools, and materials, as needed.
  • Perform cycle counting of parts inventory, and other related duties as assigned.
  • Receives and stores material, supplies, and equipment.
  • Performs clerical record keeping.
  • Unload deliveries and check in.
  • Serves as back up for Inventory Control Technician, by delivering interoffice mail and supplies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned for Parts operations.
Non-essential/Marginal Functions

Assume additional responsibilities as required. Keep work area clean daily.

Education / Qualifications

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty in a satisfactory manner. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Any combination equivalent of graduation from high school.
  • Previous experience in related duties and/or automotive parts is preferred.
  • Ability to deal effectively with others, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to operate a Fork Lift.
Key Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Working knowledge of automotive, heavy truck, and off-road specialty equipment perferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of basic inventory practice.
  • Basic knowledge of surrounding area when picking up parts and equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of purchasing and receiving procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of transactions, inventory on hand, and stock level.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office and fleet management systems.
  • Ability to safely operate a fork lift.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, including union and management personnel.
Certificates, Licenses, Registration

Valid Driver’s License required.

Equipment

Computer, fork lift, city vehicle, related tools.

Work

Environment

Work is performed in a shop environment with moderate inside temperatures, and may be performed outside as well. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate in the office. Entire office and all City vehicles are smoke‑free.
