Bar Mezzana, a Coastal Italian Restaurant in the South End’s Ink Block Neighborhood from Chef Colin Lynch is currently seeking a Sous Chef. Bar Mezzana is looking for the right candidate to join our well established family. Bar Mezzana is a collaborative environment that fosters education and growth. Candidates should be motivated, patient, collaborative, and humble. We are looking for someone with exceptional leadership skills who can manage our day to day operations. An Sous Chef that aims for balance between upholding the standards set by our company and Chef de Cuisine, and maintaining a safe and happy work environment.
Job Description
As Sous Chef, you will be responsible for acting in a manner befitting an employee of Bar Mezzana and will be expected to always represent our team in and out of the workplace. We are proud of the work we do here and want nothing more than you to be proud of yourself and your peers. You will be responsible for the day-to-day consistency of the product and execution of all food.
You will be responsible for creating compelling offerings within the given framework that represent the style and culture of Bar Mezzana, as to complement the savory cuisine offered. Reports to managing partners and Chef de Cuisine.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all quality, consistency of product
- Expedite service on a nightly basis
- Monthly inventories
- Work with Management team to meet or exceed all budgetary goals
- Organize all recipes, menu changes and private event menus
- Work with partners on all menu development
- Participate in active staff education
- Schedule all cooks and support teams
- Hold staff accountable for cleanliness and organization
- Communicate changes of menus to all necessary team members
- Ordering
- Invoice management and processing
- Participate in manager meetings
- Controlling costs and expenses
- Selecting compelling offerings for our guests
Education, Experience Desired
- Minimum 2 years experience in kitchen management
- 1 year experience in upscale or fine dining
- Serve Safe certified
- Choking and CPR certified
