About

The Role

The Assistant General Manager at MIDA oversees daily operations, partners with the General Manager, and coaches hourly employees to meet our standards of service and hospitality. Precision, patience, resourcefulness, and a passion for good food and drink are essential.

Core Strategic Focus

Understand and guide restaurant operations using weekly financial information, focusing on guest experience and supportive hourly teams. Identify, train, and coach staff, and contribute to a work environment that emphasizes ambition and inclusivity.

Responsibilities
  • Lead daily restaurant operations, integrating front‑of‑house and back‑of‑house teams.
  • Identify, hire, train, develop, and coach servers and bartenders.
  • Create bi‑weekly schedules based on sales, volume, and skill set.
  • Execute MIDA’s Server and Bar training programs, including materials and benchmarks.
  • Develop continuing education covering food, beverage, community, and industry.
  • Manage the beverage program, including ordering, inventory, and staff education.
  • Ensure guest‑facing service that reflects MIDA values.
  • Create meaningful guest relationships to encourage repeat business and staff retention.
  • Maintain accuracy, efficiency, and smart decision‑making in set‑up, cleanliness, and facility care.
  • Propose initiatives for sales growth, staffing, events, and neighborhood engagement.
  • Facilitate private events, coordinating with hosts and all team members.
  • Support all service facets: dine‑in, takeout, delivery, patio, and events.
  • Respond promptly to guest feedback and communicate improvements.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Complete daily financial reports, cash outs, and opening/closing management shifts.
  • Order dry goods and supplies efficiently, minimizing cost and waste.
Requirements
  • Prior restaurant service experience, ideally in a restaurant management role.
  • Strong interpersonal and hospitality skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Capacity to anticipate guest needs.
  • Result‑driven self‑starter.
  • Availability for nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • In‑depth knowledge of restaurant service, beverage, safety, and sanitation.
  • Physical ability to stand all shift, lift >50 lbs, kneel, bend, lift above head, work in cramped spaces.
