We are partnering with a well-established construction organization seeking a strategic and hands‑on Chief Financial Officer to join its Executive Leadership Team. This individual will oversee all financial operations, provide strategic insight to executive leadership, and ensure strong fiscal management across the organization.
This role requires deep expertise in construction accounting, including WIP, AIA billing, job costing, and percentage‑of‑completion revenue recognition.
Must-Have Qualifications- Prior CFO experience or currently serving as a CFO (highly preferred)
- CPA designation strongly preferred
- Construction industry experience within a company under $1B in revenue
- Extensive knowledge of:
- Work in Progress (WIP) reporting
- AIA billing
- Job costing
- CIE/BIE analysis
- Experience working with ERP systems (Viewpoint experience a plus)
- Lead and oversee monthly internal close process
- Review and post recurring and adjusting journal entries
- Analyze general ledger accounts and financial schedules
- Update and review Year-over-Year Income Statements
- Update and review Plan vs. Actual YTD results
- Review financial results with CEO and EVP
- Finalize CIE/BIE adjustments and close the month
- Update monthly WIP schedules with current activity
- Review cost-to-complete projections with Project Managers
- Analyze contract values, total estimated costs, billings, and GP%
- Investigate significant GP% swings and CIE/BIE balances
- Confirm revenue and cost projections
- Maintain backlog schedule
- Update cost/revenue forecasts and projections
- Oversee monthly and quarterly reporting packages
- Submit financial statements and reporting schedules
- Maintain SOX compliance requirements
- Support audit requests and compliance testing
- Provide quarterly certifications and executive reporting
- Lead and mentor an Accounting Department of 12
- Review quarterly and annual sales tax filings
- Oversee payroll review and weekly sign-off
- Approve wire transfers, checks, ACH payments
- Oversee 401(k) submissions (backup capacity)
- Manage equipment financing
- Support insurance audits (Workers Comp & GL)
- Oversee medical/dental renewals
- Administrator for corporate AMEX
- Participate as a member of the Executive Leadership Team
- Complete annual ENR survey and other required certifications
- Strategic yet highly hands‑on
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to collaborate cross‑functionally
- Analytical and detail‑oriented with strong forecasting capabilities
- Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced construction environment
- Ability to partner closely with Project Managers and Executive Leadership
