Truck Driver - Hiker​/Vehicle Transporter​/CDL - Part Time

Position Summary

Penske Truck Leasing seeks highly motivated and qualified applicants to fill the position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). Responsibilities include vehicle delivery and return to Penske locations and customers, moving box trucks up to 26’ and, for CDL Class A, tractors and trailer movement. The role may also assist the service department by delivering parts and equipment. This is a casual/on‑call part‑time job suitable for CDL Class B or Class A drivers seeking supplemental income, working 0 to 25 hours per week.

Penske facility at 4095 US Highway 1, Monmouth Junction, NJ.

• Follow safety procedures while driving to Penske locations or customer destinations.
• Inspect vehicles for mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment; report any issues to the location manager.
• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment when required.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage.
• Complete other projects and tasks assigned by supervisor.

• Minimum 2 years of driving experience.
• Minimum 2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record.
• Valid Class B CDL required;
  Applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence.
• CDL Class A license preferred.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Independent work, customer service, organizational skills, and a positive attitude.
• English language proficiency (Required by federal law).
• Regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Compliance with DOT regulations: current driver qualification file, annual MVR check, DOT physical, safety performance history, and mandatory drug screening.
• Willingness to travel, work required schedule, complete Penske employment application, background investigation, and drug screening.

• The role requires seeing, hearing, and meeting vision requirements (close, distance, peripheral, depth perception).
• Frequent walking, standing, sitting, and moving.
• Ability to regularly lift or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally up to 100 lbs (45 kg).
• Legally operating a motor vehicle and safely entering/exiting the vehicle and rear cargo area.
