Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tax Co-op student to join our team. This position provides hands‑on experience in preparing corporate, personal, and trust tax returns, assisting with tax planning, and working on compliance‑related projects. You'll gain exposure to various tax engagements and develop foundational skills needed for a career in tax and public accounting. This role is specifically available for UVM GSB students.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare personal, corporate, and trust income tax returns
  • Assist with preparation of tax and government filings
  • Support tax planning initiatives and research tax issues using internal and external resources
  • Prepare and maintain tax working papers and documentation in compliance with firm standards
  • Assist with correspondence to clients
  • Ensure deadlines are met and work is completed with accuracy and attention to detail
  • collaborate with senior staff on client engagements and participate in tax season activities
  • Stay up‑to‑date with changes in tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements
Qualifications:
  • Enrolled in a Bachelor of Accounting program (3rd or 4th year preferred)
  • Strong interest in pursuing a CPA designation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills, especially during busy season
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail‑oriented, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Working Conditions:
  • Ability to sit and use computers for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work under pressure (especially before deadlines)
  • This position starts in January and ends at the end of April
