The Schoolhouse is seeking a passionate, experienced After school Lead Teacher for our five-star licensed after school program serving children in Kindergarten through 8th grade. This role is 13–14 hours per week during after school hours, with the option to combine with school-day responsibilities for up to 25 hours per week.

We’re looking for an educator who values play, relationships, and community. Our program emphasizes curiosity, creativity, kindness, and respectful communication. We strive to create an inclusive environment where children feel seen, supported, and confident to explore and grow.

• Plan and facilitate engaging, play-based activities (art, STEM, outdoor play, games, creative projects)
• Create a safe, inclusive environment that fosters independence, friendships, and belonging
• Model respectful communication, empathy, and positive conflict resolution
• Build strong relationships with children, families, and colleagues
• Mentor assistant teachers and support a collaborative team culture
• Maintain licensing standards and complete required professional development

• Experience working with school-age children in after school, child care, school, camp, or similar settings
• Leadership experience preferred
• Strong communication and classroom management skills
• Commitment to play-based learning and inclusive practices
• Willingness to complete required Vermont licensing training
• Background check and fingerprint clearance required

• work the number of academic and in-service days articulated in the official school calendar, as published annually by the Board, plus 5 or more non-holiday workdays before the first day of school and 5 non-holiday work days after the last day of school as assigned by the Head of School or her designee.
