Lead Verification & Validation EngineerBETA Technologies is seeking a Lead Verification & Validation Engineer to define and own the verification strategy for our certifying electric aircraft’s high‑voltage electric power systems.
Responsibilities- Define and own the end‑to‑end verification strategy for high‑voltage systems from component through aircraft level.
- Develop domain‑level verification plans, methodologies, and success criteria aligned with certification requirements.
- Establish standardized tools, workflows, and artifacts to ensure consistency, traceability, and audit readiness.
- Define and maintain connections between requirements, verification activities, evidence, and compliance findings.
- Architect verification approaches across battery systems, power electronics, HV distribution, safety interlocks, and energy management.
- Lead verification campaigns covering performance, thermal behavior, protection systems, and off‑nominal or faulted conditions.
- Provide technical leadership and direction to the HV V&V team, ensuring high‑quality execution as the organization scales.
- Mentor engineers, conduct rigorous technical reviews, and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in verification, validation, systems, or test engineering in aerospace or another safety‑critical industry.
- Deep expertise in high‑voltage or electrified power systems (batteries, power electronics, HV safety, distribution).
- Strong understanding of requirements‑based verification and traceability.
- Experience with requirements and PLM tools such as Polarion, DOORS, Jira, or Windchill.
- Strong technical communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to provide structure and direction in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience with certification frameworks such as ARP
4754A, ARP
4761, and FAA/EASA programs. - Familiarity with high‑voltage and battery standards (SAE, UL, IEC, DO‑311, ASTM).
- Experience with DO‑178C, DO‑254, or DO‑160G.
- Background in flight test, system integration, or model‑based verification (MBSE, MATLAB/Simulink, Python).
- Experience building automated test or data systems at scale.
- Prior experience as a verification lead or technical authority.
Compensation: $155,000–$185,000 USD per year.
