Compliance Engineer (CE)

The Compliance Engineer (CE) will guide the Defense Engineering team to comply with product development standards as defined by the US Military. Successful candidates will have experience with MIL-DTL-917 / MIL-E-917E. The CE will be the focal point, confirming that our new military products are ready to transition through the preliminary (PDR) and critical design reviews (CDR). They will work across internal business functions (e.g., Sourcing, Manufacturing, Quality, etc.)

to ensure that new products adhere to military standards as defined by ITAR and will interface directly with counterparts in the U.S. Navy and the Navy’s subcontractors to communicate product compliance, manufacturability, traceability, and performance.

Responsibilities
  • Organize product compliance strategies, policies, and processes to ensure that the company’s products meet regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies and act as the technical subject matter expert for regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as a key participant in product design reviews.
  • Ensure end‑to‑end compliance through targeted guidance and training.
  • Assist in the development of testing tools and product test plans to ensure effective compliance testing.
  • Coordinate both internal testing and testing at outside labs/certification labs and maintain all documentation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Team player able to work in a fast‑paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization, including suppliers and/or external customers.
Additional Qualifications
  • Experience with MIL‑DTL‑917 / MIL‑E‑917E for high‑power electrical equipment.
  • Strong working knowledge of related military specifications including MIL‑STD‑1310 (shipboard grounding/bonding), MIL‑STD‑461 (EMI/EMC), and MIL‑S‑901E (high‑impact shock).
  • Expertise with ITAR, including data security protocols, Technical Data Packages (TDPs), Technical Control Plans (TCPs), and the management of controlled unclassified information (CUI).
  • Understanding of supplier and component compliance requirements (DFARS) that dictate the acquisition of procured raw materials, fabricated components, treated materials, and associated data management & archival methods (traceability).
  • Past experience guiding products through the military’s preliminary (PDR) and critical (CDR) design reviews.
  • Strong grasp of material management methods including material traceability and part non‑conformance / part deviation management methods.
  • Background in guiding product development teams through the Military’s product development process (MIL‑DTL‑917) and providing training to engineers on how best to comply with the design process.
Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary Range: $79,040.00 - $.

Eligibility & Additional Requirements

This position requires eligibility to obtain authorization under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Non‑US persons, as defined in ITAR and EAR, may not be eligible to obtain authorization.
