Fraud and Risk Analyst – South Burlington, VT:

Vermont Federal Credit Union is recruiting for a Fraud and Risk Analyst out of our Kennedy Drive Location.

This role serves as a fraud analyst/coordinator, assists the BSA program in the investigation and filing of SARs/CTRs, and aids in the coordination of risk reporting materials & associated risk dashboard maintenance. Additionally, the role supports special projects within the Risk & Compliance team.

Hourly Range: $25.42 - $38.13

Job Description:

  • Primary duty as the Fraud Analyst. In this capacity the position will review and analyze system generated reports / alerts for suspicious activity. The position will conduct research & analysis of member accounts, transactions and activities to identify potential fraud (e.g. account compromise, victim of a scam, or suspicious activity). The individual will reach out to members who are potential fraud victims to verify transactions, educate members regarding fraud risks, and take appropriate action to secure accounts when warranted.

    The role maintains information within the case management system and ensures timely updates. Coordinates communication with branches, Card Services, Contact Center, etc. The position will be expected to conduct branch visits to support fraud training and awareness initiatives. The individual will assist with fraud reporting, trend analysis, external fraud monitoring, and make recommendations to strengthen controls and reduce losses.
  • Supports the BSA/AML Program Lead with the investigation and processing of SARs / CTRs. Investigates and assesses BSA/AML alerts relating to potential money laundering, structuring, elderly abuse, and other risks to the organization. Provides efficient identification, monitoring, and recording of activities and transactions considered suspicious in support of the overall BSA program including maintaining documentation within the BSA system and the case management system.
  • Works directly with the VP of Risk & Compliance and other functional leaders to assemble risk reporting metrics. This may involve working on vendor management, business continuity or other Enterprise Risk Management functions and committees.
  • Participates in Risk & Compliance team projects as needed.

Requirements:

  • One year to three years of similar or related experience.
  • A high school education or GED.
  • Work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, confidentiality, and discretion requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
