AT3 is excited to partner with a well-established, innovative aerospace and defense component manufacturer in search of a Director of Supply Chain to join their team. The Director of Supply Chain plays a highly visible, key leadership role in directing and leading supply chain initiatives across all business units by providing top-level direction in developing, implementing, and driving strategic plans. The Director of Supply Chain will drive strategic sourcing, supplier management, planning, inventory control, logistics, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure on-time delivery, cost efficiency, and compliance with aerospace quality and regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in aerospace or regulated manufacturing environments, experience managing complex supplier networks, and the ability to balance strategic leadership with hands‑on execution.

Key Responsibilities Supply Chain Strategy & Leadership
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive supply chain strategy aligned with business objectives, customer requirements, and production demand across all business units.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop supply chain, purchasing, planning, and logistics teams.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Program Management.
  • Drive key success metrics including, but not limited to, cost reduction initiatives.
  • Oversee strategic sourcing and supplier selection for electronic components, raw materials, and outsourced services.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, lead times, and long-term agreements to ensure supply continuity and cost competitiveness.
  • Establish supplier performance metrics (OTD, quality, cost, risk) and lead supplier development initiatives.
  • Manage supplier risk, including obsolescence, capacity constraints, and geopolitical impacts.
Planning, Inventory & Logistics
  • Direct demand planning, production planning, and material forecasting to support customer schedules and program milestones.
  • Optimize inventory levels to balance working capital, service levels, and risk mitigation.
  • Oversee domestic and international logistics, ensuring compliance with ITAR, EAR, and other export regulations.
Quality, Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure supply chain compliance with aerospace standards and customer requirements (AS9100, FAR/DFAR, ITAR, etc.).
  • Partner with Quality to address supplier quality issues, corrective actions, and audits.
  • Develop remediation and contingency plans to ensure a robust and uninterrupted supply chain to support business continuity.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Leverage ERP/MRP systems and data analytics to improve visibility, accuracy, and decision-making.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI) by ensuring supply readiness and cost targets are met.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8–12+ years of progressive supply chain experience within aerospace, defense, electronics, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Proven leadership experience managing multi-functional supply chain teams.
  • Strong knowledge of electronic components, supplier qualification, and long‑lead material management.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and supply chain analytics.
  • Working knowledge of aerospace regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to travel both internationally and domestically up to 30%
  • Ability and willingness to work on‑site daily (Vergennes, VT)
Preferred
  • Master’s degree (MBA or MS) preferred.
  • Experience supporting government, defense, or commercial aerospace programs.
  • Experience executing in sourcing machined components and CCA (Circuit Card Assemblies)
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or APICS/CPIM/CSCP certification.
  • Experience managing global suppliers and international logistics.
  • Strategic thinker with strong execution skills
