Overnight Security Officer – Greater Burlington, Vermont
Job Description:
Securitas is hiring multiple Overnight Security Officers to keep our clients safe at various sites in Greater Burlington, Vermont. Positions available full‑time, part‑time, or flexible schedules.
Starting Pay: $20.00+/hr (varies by site)
Available Schedules (location, pay, hours):
- Schedule 1 – Burlington: $22.11/hr, Sunday and Monday 11:30 pm–7:30 am (16 hours)
- Schedule 2 – Burlington: $20.00/hr, Sundays 7:30 pm–7:30 am (12 hours)
- Schedule 3 – Burlington: $20.00/hr, Tuesday–Thursday 7:30 pm–7:30 am (36 hours)
- Schedule 4 – Burlington: $21.57/hr, Saturday & Sunday 9:00 pm–5:00 am (16 hours)
Please indicate to your recruiter which schedule(s) you are interested in being considered for. We can also accommodate packaging multiple shifts between sites to get more hours.
Responsibilities- Surveillance:
Monitor security cameras and patrol assigned premises to detect suspicious activity, unauthorized access, or safety hazards. - Access Control:
Enforce access‑control policies, checking identification, issuing visitor passes, and restricting access to authorized personnel only. - Emergency Response:
Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, or security incidents, including medical emergencies, fire hazards, or criminal activity. Report or elevate incidents to law enforcement as needed. - Incident Reporting:
Document and report incidents, suspicious activity, breaches of security, and safety concerns in clear, accurate, and detailed reports. - Patrolling:
Conduct foot or vehicle patrols to ensure all areas—including entrances, parking lots, and perimeters—are secure. Check for unlocked or tampered doors, windows, or gates. - Customer Service:
Greet and assist visitors or employees, providing directions and answering inquiries while maintaining a professional and approachable demeanor. - Safety Inspections:
Inspect premises for safety hazards, fire risks, or any conditions that compromise safety. - Conflict Resolution:
Handle minor disputes or disturbances, using conflict‑resolution skills to maintain a calm and safe environment. - Collaboration:
Work closely with other security staff, law enforcement, or emergency responders to coordinate efforts and respond to incidents as needed.
- Excellent observational and de‑escalation skills; able to remain calm under pressure.
- Strong communicator capable of working closely with both local and global security teams.
- Committed to ethical practices and following all safety protocols, always maintaining a safe and respectful approach.
- Basic to intermediate computer skills.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Ability to apply for and receive a Vermont Guard Card (team will assist post‑hire).
- Reliable means of communication and transportation.
- Legal right to work in the United States.
- Effective speaking, reading, and writing in English.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
