Position Summary
The Accounting Manager is responsible for administering all aspects of the Accounting and data process functions in the Accounting Office for the Hotel, ensuring accurate, efficient, and professional performance of all responsibilities.
Responsibilities- Monthly closing of books and related matters
- Ensuring all work is completed accurately, efficiently, and professionally
- Preparation of monthly profit and loss statements (accrual basis), balance sheets, and other financial and statistical reports required by the company
- Reconciliation and maintenance of backup work papers, schedules, and documentation for balance sheet accounts
- Cooperation with outside auditors
- Assistance with periodic inventories, budget preparation and analysis, and internal audit
- Day‑to‑day decision making on accounting transactions in line with hotel operating policies and procedures
- Assistance to other hotel departments with financial information upon request
- Analysis and resolution of accounting and finance issues
- Review of Night Audit staff work
- Verification of accounts payable invoice coding
- Regular review of accounts receivable status
- Checking payroll and daily deposits for accuracy
- Communication with department heads to resolve concerns or issues
- Preparation of all journal entries for closing each accounting period
- Monthly reconciliation of bank accounts and daily reconciliation of credit card accounts to ensure receipt of all monies owed
- Monthly vault audit
- Assistance in inventory counts each month and quarter as needed
- Monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts
- Counting cash and preparation of bank deposits
- Acting as payroll partner to complete payroll
- Participation in monthly P&L calls with the VP of Ops / Accounting
- Participation in month‑end calls with ownership
- Demonstrated ability and proficiency in all areas of Accounting: A/P, A/R, GL, audit, inventory control, payroll, budgeting, costing, P&L preparation, and balance sheet reconciliation
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to multi‑task and prioritize in a fast‑paced work environment
- Efficient, accurate, detail‑oriented work performance
- Ability to lead and work cohesively as part of a team
- Sound logic and judgment in evaluating situations and utilizing appropriate resources
- Self‑directed, motivated, and demonstration of exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
- Effective communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing; second language desirable
- Experience with industry‑relevant payroll reporting systems
$65,000–$75,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
