This is a General Accounting position that may include the following tasks: monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts related to direct and indirect costs, problem solving, researching, explaining variances, and recommendations of financial data to upper management and executives, assists with audits, sales/use tax returns, and keying invoices into the A/P system. Requires intermediate level of Excel experience, attention to detail and strong analytical ability to interpret financial data.
WhatYou'll Do
- Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts of routine to moderate complexity.
- Initiate and/or process journal entries into various accounts.
- Perform reviews of various systems activities for Financial and/or Operational reporting, which may include upper level review of co-workers or next level review.
- Prepare financial reports for financial analysis, forecasting, trending, budgeting, and/or results analysis to ensure transactions in the ledger tie to statistical files and/or various financial reports.
- Perform analyses of financial data to identify problem areas and/or report to management.
- Prepare supporting reports and/or spreadsheets required to prepare financial reports.
- Prepare spreadsheets for daily and/or monthly balancing and/or reconciling.
- Research and/or complete account reconciliations to maintain accurate general ledger accounts.
- Resolve out of balance situations and/or ensure outstanding items do not exceed standard timeframe.
- Maintain documentation of work papers including costing, invoicing, allocation and/or other required auditable documents.
- Assist with all audit preparation and/or review.
- Assist internal and/or external auditors.
- Assist supervisor with special projects.
- May assist in directing activities of staff or a function.

Education:
Bachelor's in a job related field with 24 semester hours in accounting. (Anyone hired prior to August 1, 2008 in an accounting position only requires 21 semester hours of accounting.) - Required
Work Experience:
2 years of accounting experience. - Required
Skills and Abilities:
Knows fundamental accounting concepts, practices and procedures. Possesses good communication, organizational and analytical skills. Ability to work independently. - Required Software and Tools:
Microsoft Office. Ability to use data retrieval applications. - Preferred
Work Experience:
3 years of accounting experience. - Preferred Software and Other Tools:
Strong skills with MS Excel.
