Job Summary
A public sector organization in Columbia, SC is seeking a Grants Accountant for a contract/temporary opportunity supporting high-volume grant accounting, federal reporting, cash management, reconciliations, and audit preparation. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with strong grants experience, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to work confidently with large volumes of financial data.
The Grants Accountant will join a busy, collaborative finance environment where accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting are essential. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful government and public sector financial operations while working with experienced accounting and program teams.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare federal, state, and internal financial reports related to grants while ensuring compliance with grant guidelines, deadlines, and reporting requirements.
- Gather, analyze, manipulate, and report financial data for recurring reports, ad hoc reporting, and grant-related financial analysis.
- Monitor and reconcile grant-related accounts, cash balances, federal funds, budgets, and expenditures to ensure accurate financial records.
- Support cash management activities, including daily monitoring of fund balances, grant award management, and reconciliation to the general ledger.
- Assist with audit schedules, Schedule of Federal Financial Assistance preparation, documentation, and support for state and federal audits.
- Partner with program managers, county and regional offices, HR, and payroll to maintain accurate grant funding streams and resolve discrepancies.
- Pay range: $22.00 to $26.00 per hour.
- Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. - Assignment length: 6 to 12 weeks, with potential to extend beyond 12 weeks.
- Job type:
Contract/temporary. - This temporary role is not guaranteed to convert to a permanent position, although future full-time opportunities may become available.
- For temporary assignments lasting 13 weeks or longer, Apple One offers major medical, dental, vision, 401k, and statutory sick pay where required.
