Staff Accountant

Location: Ridgeland

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting and tax functions for an organization based in Ridgeland, South Carolina. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can maintain accurate financial records, prepare tax-related documentation, and contribute to reliable month-end and ongoing accounting activities. The role requires strong knowledge of general ledger processes, journal entry preparation, and corporate and sales tax compliance.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and record journal entries to support daily and month-end accounting operations.

- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure financial data is complete and accurate.

- Assist with the preparation of corporate tax filings and related supporting schedules.

- Manage sales tax reporting activities and help ensure timely and accurate submissions.

- Review financial transactions for proper classification and compliance with accounting standards.

- Support account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to resolve issues efficiently.

- Compile documentation and reports needed for internal review and external tax requirements. Requirements - Experience in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role.

- Working knowledge of corporate tax principles and tax return preparation.

- Experience handling sales tax reporting and compliance tasks.

- Proficiency in preparing and posting journal entries.

- Strong understanding of general ledger structure and account reconciliation.

- High attention to detail with the ability to manage accuracy across financial records.

- Ability to organize priorities and meet deadlines in a contract accounting environment.
