The Plant Controller is responsible for the overall financial management of the plant, including accurate and timely reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and decision support for plant leadership. This role will also lead the implementation of the Odoo ERP system and ensure strong internal controls, compliance, and effective partnership with operations.
Key Responsibilities- Financial Management
- Oversee all plant‑level financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and monthly/annual reporting.
- Manage the month‑end close process and oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable activities to ensure accurate, timely recording of transactions and proper cut‑off.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial statements in compliance with company policies, GAAP, and local statutory requirements.
- Perform variance analysis (actual vs. budget/forecast) and provide clear, actionable insights on plant performance to management.
- Support plant and corporate leadership with financial modeling, scenario analysis, and decision support for cost, pricing, and capital investments.
- Odoo ERP Implementation
- Lead the ERP implementation at the plant, including planning, coordination, and execution of project milestones.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams (operations, supply chain, IT, finance) to gather requirements and ensure the ERP configuration supports business processes.
- Develop and deliver training for plant personnel on the ERP system; drive strong user adoption and process discipline.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot ERP‑related issues, and coordinate fixes and enhancements with corporate/IT teams.
- Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Finance
- Manage material costing, including BOM reviews, routing updates, overhead allocation, and annual cost rollups.
- Analyze manufacturing variances (material usage, labor efficiency, overhead absorption, scrap, and rework) and partner with operations to drive corrective actions.
- Inventory, WIP, and Physical Controls
- Oversee inventory valuation, WIP integrity, and timely production order closures.
- Manage and execute cycle count and annual physical inventory processes, ensuring strong reconciliation and root‑cause analysis.
- Establish controls for scrap tracking, material issues/returns, and inventory adjustments.
- Internal Controls and Compliance
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve internal controls to safeguard plant assets and ensure accuracy of financial data.
- Conduct or coordinate regular audits and self‑assessments to verify adherence to policies, procedures, and control standards.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and local statutory/regulatory requirements.
- Drive remediation plans for any identified control gaps and monitor ongoing effectiveness.
- Develop and ensure inventory management guidelines are followed.
- Ensure annual completion of financial audit.
- Team Leadership and Business Partner
- Lead, coach, and develop the plant accounting team, ensuring clarity of roles, goals, and performance expectations.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ownership, and accountability within the finance function.
- Provide ongoing training, mentoring, and career development opportunities for team members.
- Act as a key business partner to plant leadership, building strong relationships across operations, supply chain, quality, and engineering to support strategic and operational decisions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Plant Controller or in a similar finance role within a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading ERP implementation at the plant or multisite level.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, cost accounting, and internal controls.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision‑making skills with the ability to translate data into clear business insights.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and modern ERP systems (e.g., Odoo, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
- Proven leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross‑functional teams and all levels of the organization.
