Sea Island Land Development, a leading sitework and land development company based in Ravenel, SC serving the Low country since 2016, is seeking an experienced Payroll Analyst to own payroll accuracy, compliance and reporting for our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-driven professional who takes pride in accuracy, compliance, and building processes that hold up as the company scales.
WhatYou'll Do:
- Process full-cycle weekly payroll for our field and office team, ensuring every wage, tax, and deduction is accurate before pay day
- Manage garnishments, off cycle pay runs, terminations, and direct deposit/ACH setup
- Register and maintain state withholding and unemployment tax accounts as the company expands into new states
- Prepare W-2s and file W-2c corrections when needed
- Prepare and submit certified payroll reports for prevailing wage and government-funded projects
- Oversee the annual workers' compensation and general liability insurance premium audits from start to finish, including payroll data prep and job cost/class code review
- Reconcile employee benefit elections against payroll deductions and support annual open enrollment
- Investigate timesheet discrepancies and report significant ones to executive management
- Reconcile payroll tax filings — quarterly Form 941s and annual state unemployment and W-2 reconciliations — to ensure accuracy across all pay types
- Respond to wage verification requests, state unemployment claims, and other payroll-related inquiries from employees and government agencies
- Identify trends and recommend process improvements
- 3+ years of payroll management experience, ideally in construction or an industrial setting
- Expert user of BambooHR for payroll processing or a similar system or the ability to gain competence quickly
- Direct experience reconciling payroll between two separate systems (HRIS and ERP/accounting software)
- Comfortable owning workers' comp/GL insurance audits and serving as the main point of contact with auditors and brokers
- Working knowledge of multi-state payroll tax compliance, certified payroll reporting, and W-2/W-2c correction processes
- Advanced Excel skills and sharp attention to detail
- Strong analytical skills
- Comprehensive insurance plan benefits
- 401(k) Safe Harbor match — dollar-for-dollar up to 3% of pay, then 50 cents per dollar from 3–5%
- Paid parental leave
- Generous PTO — up to 5 weeks for tenured employees, with partial payout of unused time
- 9 or more paid holidays annually
- Financial support and paid time off for continuing certifications
- A growing company committed to internal development and growth and a positive work/life balance
