Overview

Under general supervision, the primary responsibility of the Claims Center Support Specialist is providing customer service to all visitors of South Carolina Education Lottery's (SCEL) Claims Center. Additionally, this position will provide assistance to the Claims Center Staff by reviewing player claims information, disbursing prize checks, performing clerical duties, and working with the public. This position is at-will and will not be covered by the South Carolina State Employee Grievance Procedure Act.

Abilities

The Claims Center Support Specialist must have the ability to (1) communicate and deal courteously and effectively with customers; (2) conduct business using knowledge of SCEL policies, regulations and procedures; (3) exercise proficiency with basic computer software applications; (4) follow directions and show attention to detail; (5) establish and maintain effective working relationships; and (6) be prompt and reliable.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalency, with 1 - 3 years of related work experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Directs players on protocols established for visiting the SCEL Claims Center. Ensures compliance with occupancy restrictions on days where there is a high volume of claimants.
  • Provides customer service and assistance with Lottery Claim Form to ensure all documentation is in order to proceed with the Lottery Claims process.
  • Routinely cleans and disinfects high-touch surfaces.
  • Takes daily inventory of items needed to serve players, such as Claim Forms, Pens, Cleaning Supplies, or any other supplies necessary. Communicates supply needs to Claims Center Management.
  • Assists with coordinating administrative and/or support activities for the Claims Center Office, to include opening, validating, logging and processing incoming mail.
  • Assists with the disbursement of prizes; both in-person and via US Mail.
  • Assists daily with coverage for the main customer service desk and mail operations for the Columbia Business Office.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.
Monday - Friday, 8:30AM - 5PM (1 hour lunch), 37.50 hours per week; paid state holidays
