Overview
The South Carolina Manufacturers and Commerce (SCMC) Executive Coordinator supports the SCMC President and CEO and other C-level executive staff as directed. This role requires a proactive and efficient individual with exceptional critical thinking and organizational skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to operate with a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality. The ideal candidate is a strategic partner who can anticipate needs, manage priorities, and serve as an extension of the SCMC President and CEO to ensure they can focus on the most critical aspects of the organization.

POSITION TITLE: Executive Coordinator
LOCATION: Columbia, South Carolina
REPORTS TO: SCMC President and CEO
STATUS: Full-Time;
Nonexempt
Travel: In-state travel with limited out-of-state travel. The expectation for the frequency of travel is between 10%–20% of the Executive Coordinator’s time.
Key Responsibilities Executive Support- Provide high-level administrative support to the SCMC President and CEO, managing day-to-day schedules, priorities, and communications.
- Maintain an accurate and detailed calendar; proactively coordinate meetings, appointments, travel, and events.
- Serve as the liaison between the SCMC President and CEO and internal/external stakeholders.
- Provide high-level administrative support to all C-level executive staff, managing priorities and communications.
- Attend key internal and external meetings; take notes, track action items, and ensure timely follow-ups.
- Support the President and CEO in tracking and managing strategic projects and company-wide initiatives.
- Support SCMC Councils / Committees as directed.
- Collaborate closely with SCMC senior leadership to ensure alignment and execution of the organization’s priorities.
- Coordinate with SCMC Communications team to ensure President and CEO is prepared and organized for all speaking engagements.
- Plan and coordinate complex travel itineraries including flights, hotels, ground transportation, and expense reports.
- Proactively troubleshoot and resolve travel issues as they arise, ensuring minimal disruption.
- Handle confidential information with absolute integrity and discretion.
- Manage sensitive communications and maintain professionalism across all touchpoints.
- Assist in planning organization events, leadership off-sites, board meetings, and other key gatherings.
- Coordinate logistics, prepare materials, and support executive team members as needed.
- Per SCMC needs, perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- 10+ years of professional experience in a fast-paced environment; experience supporting a CEO and/or C-level executives strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex calendars, logistics, and executive communications.
- Ability to learn new tasks quickly, including reading, comprehension, and retention of information.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills; highly organized with attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Ability to work independently, think critically, and anticipate needs before they arise.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in productivity tools (Google Workspace or Microsoft Office, Zoom, or equivalent).
- High emotional intelligence, poise, and professionalism; proven discretion handling confidential information.
- In-office presence during scheduled hours and ability to collaborate face-to-face with staff, members, directors, and the public.
- Ability to work non-scheduled office hours when job requires and to maintain prompt, regular attendance.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and high levels of stress with accuracy and focus.
- Ability to concentrate in a normal office environment and follow through on tasks to completion.
- Ability to understand both written and oral instructions and interact positively with others, including conflict resolution when needed.
