Responsibilities
- Under general supervision, determine applicants’ admissibility to the SC National Guard Youth Challenge Academy.
- Manage case management, post-residential phase, volunteer/mentor services, and admissions.
- Advise potential cadets and their parents on admission requirements, options, transfers, and related issues.
- Obtain applicant information by requesting completed applications and necessary details; verify and clarify information; interview applicants and family members; explain admission criteria.
- Formulate, develop, update, and implement admissions-related forms, policies and procedures.
- Assist with recruiting and retention of cadets.
- Connect every cadet with a mentor by week 13 of each cycle.
- Ensure graduates have placement (employment, school, and/or military).
- Coordinate program design, implementation, and daily administrative activities.
- Plan, develop, implement, and monitor the Mission, Vision, Goals and Objectives of the SC Youth Challenge Academy.
- Conduct special projects at management’s request; prepare and present reports.
- Review program objectives for alignment with agency mission; assess programs and implement policy, procedure, or rule changes.
- Build partnerships with youth-serving organizations, agencies, and local/state businesses.
- Assist with short and long-term strategic planning.
- Process personnel transactions and maintain records and files.
- Prepare letters, reports, and other documents as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with the public and colleagues; provide excellent customer service; establish effective working relationships; multitask; meet deadlines; and pay strong attention to detail.
- Prepare admissions reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends; protect confidentiality of information.
- Create and maintain an effective interview process for potential cadets and their families.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma plus 4 years of supervisory/management experience.
- Experience working with youth and administrative experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Social Work or similar field; 3 years of administration experience; supervisory/management experience.
- Knowledge of agency policies, procedures, regulations and program services; ability to coordinate diverse administrative functions; establish and maintain effective working relationships; communicate effectively in writing and orally.
- Enhances organization reputation by taking ownership of new and different requests; explore opportunities to add value to the position.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a high-demand job; must obtain people skills and ability to work as a team.
