Job Description & How to Apply Below
You're the one who keeps the place running. Invoices go out, bills get paid, the phone gets answered right, and somehow everything just... works — because you're on it. If you've ever been that person and wished you worked somewhere that actually noticed, keep reading.
American Chillers is a growing chiller manufacturer in Columbia, SC, building cooling equipment for cold plunge, breweries, dry cleaning, medical, and other niche industries. We need someone to own our front office and be the steady center the whole company relies on.
Why you'd actually like this job- You'll own the office, not just work in it. We'll trust you to run your domain your way — no one looking over your shoulder.
- Steady hours:
Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM. No nights, no weekends, no shift work. - A small, drama-free team and an owner who respects how much the office holds together.
- A stable, growing company — this is a put-down-roots job, not a stepping stone.
- Modern software, not clunky 1990s systems. We'll train you on everything; you just have to be willing to learn.
- Accounts Receivable: send customer invoices, track payments, follow up on overdue accounts, keep AR clean and reconciled.
- Accounts Payable: process vendor bills and expenses, pay on time, reconcile, and sort out discrepancies with suppliers.
- Shipping & logistics: schedule outbound freight, prep packing slips and bills of lading, track shipments, and keep customers updated.
- Customer service & office: be the friendly first voice on the phone, give order updates, route messages, and keep the office running (supplies, files, records).
You'll fit if you
- Have 3+ years running an office or in senior admin/operations (manufacturing, construction, or trades a big plus).
- Are genuinely good with AR/AP and comfortable in accounting/ERP software.
- Communicate clearly and warmly, in writing and on the phone.
- Stay organized and calm when it's busy, and like being the person others count on.
- Are proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Are open to learning new tools — we lean on modern software and a bit of automation to make the work easier.
- High school diploma required;
Associate's degree or higher a plus.
- $50,000–$60,000/year, based on experience.
- 401(k) with company match, paid time off, paid holidays, retirement plan.
- Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, in person at our West Columbia shop.
