Registrar
The Boiling Springs High School Registrar is responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing all student academic and demographic data within the school's student information system (Power School). The Registrar plays a vital role in ensuring accuracy in student records, scheduling, and transcripts, while supporting the overall operations of the guidance department. The Registrar also serves as the Advanced Placement (AP) Coordinator, Dual Enrollment Liaison, Palmetto Fellows point of contact, and VirtualSC administrator.
A valid Guidance Counselor certification is preferred but not required.
- Processes all student enrollment, registration, and withdrawal requests, coordinating with teachers, administrators, and counselors.
- Supports all online registration processes for students and families.
- Collaborates with counselors and administration to monitor and manage the master schedule for both students and teachers.
- Prepares and verifies student schedules and assists with schedule adjustments.
- Prepares reports and data submissions for school, district, and South Carolina Department of Education personnel as required.
- Manages and maintains accurate student transcripts, including processing requests, verifying credits, and ensuring timely updates to historical records.
- Coordinates student records and transcript transfers for incoming and outgoing students.
- Enters all grades for summer school, dual enrollment, Advanced Placement, and VirtualSC courses.
- Acts as Dual Enrollment Liaison, managing communication and coordination with partnering colleges and universities.
- Generates and customizes reports such as class rosters, student schedules, GPA and class rank reports, honor rolls, statistical data, and other academic reports.
- Responds promptly and professionally to inquiries from students, staff, parents, and district personnel.
- Attends district and state training sessions as necessary to remain current with data and reporting requirements.
- Supports all standardized testing as requested.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Guidance Director, Academic Assistant Principal, or Principal.
Education and Experience
- Minimum:
High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by three years of clerical or data management experience in an educational setting. - Preferred:
Bachelor's degree or valid South Carolina Guidance Counselor certification.
Knowledge
- Proficiency in Power School and other student information systems.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google Workspace.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a busy school environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators.
Physical Demands
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands to operate computers and office equipment. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Frequent use of computer monitor and keyboard.
Working Environment
Office environment with frequent interruptions and moderate noise levels. Interaction with students, staff, and visitors is continuous and requires professionalism, flexibility, and attention to detail.
Evaluation
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with Spartanburg School District Two policy and procedures.
