About the OpportunityAGG is seeking a Travel Clerk to provide travel, finance, personnel, and administrative support for U.S. Army student and soldier populations in Columbia, South Carolina. This position performs senior-level travel clerk and administrative support functions requiring sound judgment, technical aptitude, computer literacy, and the ability to interpret travel orders, coordinate official travel requirements, maintain accurate records, operate government and enterprise database systems, and provide responsive customer support in a regulated military environment.
Key Responsibilities- Interpret travel orders and counsel military and civilian personnel on official travel requirements, entitlements, authorizations, vouchers, documentation, and applicable regulatory procedures.
- Plan itineraries and arrange travel accommodations involving air, ground transportation, lodging, rental vehicles, and related services in accordance with mission requirements, cost considerations, carrier availability, and applicable Government travel regulations.
- Prepare, review, and process travel authorizations, vouchers, unused ticket documentation, government transportation requests, cash collection documents, and supporting travel records for Government review and approval.
- Manage travel for all assigned personnel through the Defense Travel System (DTS) and the Army Training Requirements and Resources System (ATRRS), including creating authorizations and assisting with travel vouchers for submission to Government approval authorities.
- Maintain customer scheduling systems, process walk-in and electronic requests, support individual or group counseling sessions, resolve routine customer issues, and document complaints or escalations.
- Perform in-processing and out-processing administrative support by conducting digital records reviews, building in-processing packets, verifying assignment orders, updating student information in Government systems, and ensuring personnel tracking databases are updated within one business day of a soldier’s arrival or departure.
- Prepare and process personnel action requests in the Integrated Personnel and Pay System-Army (IPPS-A), including promotions, awards, reassignments, leave requests, separations, personnel accounting reports, and strength management reports.
- Process and code pay entitlements, special actions, and deductions, including initiating, adjusting, and stopping pay and allowances, processing special duty pay, and managing deductions as approved by Government decision authorities.
- Maintain official military personnel records by uploading required documents to the Interactive Personnel Electronic Records Management System (iPERMS), including assignment orders, promotion orders, award certificates, academic records, and other required documentation.
- Operate automated finance systems to manage soldier finance actions, including CEDEMS, CMS, DJMS, DMO, MMPA, CITIBANK Commercial Card systems, and Smart Voucher.
- Operate automated HR systems, including IPPS-A and iPERMS, to manage soldier data, monitor administrative actions, and ensure accurate case tracking from initiation through completion.
- Monitor updates to finance, travel, and human resources publications; maintain regulatory and document compliance; and complete all mandatory Government-provided training.
- Serve as the primary interactive help desk for the student population by managing and responding to inquiries received by email, Microsoft Teams chat, and telephone within required performance timelines.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience performing administrative support functions with demonstrated technical aptitude and computer literacy.
- Experience consistent with a Travel Clerk role, including interpreting travel orders, applying travel regulations, counseling travelers, coordinating official travel arrangements, preparing travel documents, and resolving routine travel-related issues under general supervision.
