Job Summary

The National Fellowships Coordinator is a professional position in National Fellowships and Scholar Programs (NFSP), a unit in the South Carolina Honors College (SCHC). Staff members should possess a wide-ranging intellectual curiosity and a commitment to working with high ability students. The coordinator will perform a variety of duties in support of the recruitment and advisement of student considering and applying for national fellowships and scholarships with a focus on STEM majors and competitions.

The coordinator will facilitate the recruitment and promotion efforts, conduct workshops, provide individual advising and assist in program development and administration. As a staff member in a multi-function unit, the position may include additional responsibilities as assigned to meet the needs of USC’s academically talented students and to support the academic mission of the University.

Job Related Minimum Required

Education and Experience
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior advising with post-secondary high ability students.
  • Working knowledge of national fellowship competitions.
  • Familiarity with STEM disciplines.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, exercise good judgment and discretion, and be able to work courteously with diverse groups.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and maintain confidentiality.
