Job Description

As a Surveyor Assistant at Haile Gold Mine, you will play a critical role in the efficient and safe operation of our open-pit mining. Your responsibility will be to accurately measure, map, and monitor the progress of mining operations to ensure compliance with regulations, safety standards, and production targets. You will utilize surveying technology and techniques to gather data and provide essential information.

Complies with all safety requirements and observes all company policies and procedures

Set-out design control, drill holes, and grade control on time according to work priorities in an active mining environment

Safely work around heavy machinery including but not limited to haul trucks, loaders, and drills

Proactively check as built for design compliance as areas are mined and provide additional control as required to remediate variances.

Maintain record of survey data

Using computer software to produce plans and data for operations and technical team

Collect geotechnical data at the required interval and according to specifications determined by geotechnical Engineer.

Assist Senior Surveyor with any requested tasks

Carries out all other duties that may reasonably be required

Qualifications

Previous experience 1 – 5 years of experience in a hard rock mining environment preferred.

Certifications Survey certification, degree, or formal training course is preferred.

Previous experience with CAD software is preferred

High School Diploma / G.E.D. is preferred.

Health and Safety

Develop and continuously promote strategic objectives and health and safety awareness programs to ensure all workers and site contractors understand their health and safety responsibilities.

Lead, advise and co‑ordinate the departmental health and safety officers advisors to deliver the site health and safety objectives.

Contribute to the ongoing development and review of site policies, procedures, hazard management plans and standards.

Advise and assist senior management to establish business health and safety objectives, targets and KPIs that are fully integrated with the site’s business unit plans.

Facilitate regular hazard/risk management planning via regular risk reviews incorporating business unit hazard identification, risk assessment and control practices, and ensuring compliance.

Organize and conduct regular health and safety audits and workplace inspections.

Ensure that all health and safety documents are controlled in accordance with the relevant corporate standards.

Assist in producing a monthly report for both company (and statutory) requirements. Reports will include incidents, safety statistics, budget performance and relevant occupational health, safety, and training initiatives.

Assist the site management team to develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive Emergency Response Plan.

Always ensure a high standard of emergency preparedness by ensuring suitable numbers of site personnel are trained as Emergency Responders, ensuring equipment is regularly inspected and maintained in good working order, ensure regular…
