Disaster Recovery Reserve Corps
Multiple positions within Pickens, Oconee, Anderson, Abbeville, Greenwood, Greenville, McCormick & Edgefield counties. The Disaster Recovery Reserve Corps is a unique opportunity for individuals to serve their community after future disasters by preparing to fill temporary positions needed to assist disaster survivors. Former, and retired state agency and private business employees, and/or military retirees and veterans are encouraged to apply. Senior or graduate level students are also welcome.
Associates selected will receive $20.00 per hour and be reimbursed mileage for two training sessions each year. The compensation received when activated will depend on the specific post-disaster position filled. During activation periods, associates will be matched to positions based on the needs of the state and their individual backgrounds, skill sets, locations, willingness to travel, and self-defined work and physical limitations.
The DRRC will also prepare associates for related full-time field opportunities by growing knowledge and building skills.
The state of South Carolina offers eligible employees generous benefits, including health and dental insurance; retirement and savings plan options; and paid vacation and sick leave. Insurance Benefits Eligible employees may enroll in health insurance, which includes prescription coverage and wellness benefits.

Retirement Benefits State employees are also offered retirement plan options, including defined benefit and defined contribution plans. The benefits above are available to most state employees, with the exception of those in temporary positions. Employees in temporary grant and time-limited positions may be eligible for all, some or none of these benefits as benefits are associated with each position type.
