Job Type: Full-Time (In-Office)

Schedule: M-F, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Summary Statement

Under the direction of the Group Director, administer and coordinate the South Carolina Bar's Mock Trial programs and related competitions. Responsibilities include competition logistics, volunteer recruitment and management, participant communications, resource development, training support, statewide program coordination and grant writing.

Responsibilities and Duties Competition Administration
  • Coordinate and administer Middle School and High School Mock Trial competitions.
  • Develop and maintain annual competition timelines.
  • Manage registration, team communications, and competition records.
  • Coordinate regional and state competition logistics.
  • Conduct site visits and assist with facility selection and preparation.
  • Oversee competition supplies, awards, badges, placards, and materials.
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteer judges, attorneys, and attorney coaches.
  • Coordinate volunteer communications and recognition efforts.
  • Track volunteer participation and hours.
Program Resources
  • Coordinate annual review and revision of competition materials, including rules, manuals, handbooks, and training resources.
  • Assist with Mock Trial case development and review processes.
  • Maintain competition-related content on the South Carolina Bar website.
Competition Operations
  • Serve as on-site coordinator for regional and state competitions.
  • Coordinate competition schedules, room assignments, and power matching.
  • Assist with state team preparation and participation in national competitions.
  • Coordinate courtroom artist and journalist competitions.
Program Evaluation
  • Collect and review participant evaluations.
  • Assist in developing recommendations for program improvements.
  • Track participation and performance data.
  • Prepare grant applications and submit in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure timely reporting and adherence to expenditures within grant and other source guidelines to include mid-year and end-of-year grant reports.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in political science, US History, or similar field with 3 or more years of relevant work experience;
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, database manipulation, and web content management systems such as Umbraco;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work well with others and with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to manage time efficiently to handle overlapping project requirements;
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines;
  • Must possess strong attention to detail and be a self-starter;
  • Experience working with volunteers;
  • Ability to travel within and outside of the state.
DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Knowledge of Quicken, Jot Form, and grants management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift up to 70 pounds. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, office equipment and meet with staff. Ability to travel, which involves overnight accommodations.
