Chief Estimator
Location: United States, Murrells Inlet, South Carolina
Industry: Underground Utility & Heavy Civil Construction
Employment Type: Permanent, Direct Placement
Compensation: Negotiable (USD 125,000–150,000 per annum)

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive, and timely project bids. The ideal candidate will have strong estimating expertise and hands‑on experience using industry‑standard estimating and project management software. This role is critical to developing profitable bids and supporting successful project execution.
Responsibilities- Prepare detailed cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
- Review and interpret plans, specifications, and bid documents to define full project scope
- Develop estimates using B2W Estimate software
- Perform quantity takeoffs utilizing AGTEK and Bluebeam software
- Create and maintain project schedules using Microsoft Project
- Solicit, analyze, and compare vendor and subcontractor quotes
- Collaborate with project managers and operations teams during bid reviews and project handoff
- Identify risks, cost drivers, and value‑engineering opportunities
- Maintain historical cost data and improve estimating accuracy over time
- Support post‑bid analysis and continuous improvement efforts
- 5+ years of estimating experience (compensation DOE)
- Proficient in B2W Estimate software
- Preferred experience with AGTEK, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time‑management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple bids and meet tight deadlines
- Estimating experience in civil, earthwork, or heavy construction environments
- Familiarity with current material pricing, production rates, and market trends
