Scheduler
This role develops, maintains, and optimizes schedules for large construction projects or multiple smaller projects with complex scheduling activities. The scheduler collaborates closely with project teams to build critical path method schedules, track progress against baseline plans, and proactively identify and mitigate schedule risks. The position plays a key role in supporting project performance by providing accurate schedule data, insightful analysis, and clear communication to stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities- Develop a thorough understanding of the work breakdown structure and apply it to large or multiple smaller construction projects with complex scheduling activities.
- Reference and adhere to the Scheduling Playbook and all related company scheduling policies, practices, procedures, and activities.
- Build strong relationships with project stakeholders to communicate the overall project plan, support project performance, and promote the value of scheduling.
- Collaborate with the project team, including engineers and superintendents, to confirm the Contract Item List, establish Required On Job dates, and review the Procurement Schedule to track and assess subcontractor commitments.
- Develop project schedules using Critical Path Method logic to create accurate baseline schedules with scheduling software.
- Review and recommend decisions related to the performance of work, including scheduling, delivery, logistics, and trade staffing levels, to support timely project execution.
- Study schedule deliverables thoroughly prior to publication or distribution and ask challenging questions to enhance schedule accuracy and reliability.
- Work with key project departments such as Preconstruction, Commissioning, Procurement, and Construction to prepare detailed and integrated project schedules.
- Engage with the Virtual Design & Construction team to align and coordinate project schedules with project models.
- Define schedule metrics and monitor critical path activities to ensure alignment with forecasted project completion dates.
- Contribute data and insights needed to update project schedule dashboards and other schedule reporting tools.
- Create target comparison models and look-ahead schedules to provide progress updates, present findings, and explain schedule risks to project stakeholders.
- Develop and recommend recovery strategies to help the project team realign work with the established schedule.
- Challenge the project team using previous, current, and future schedule data to compare As-Built versus Planned progress and drive accountability.
- Review Pull Plans, revise the schedule accordingly, and incorporate Last Planner System principles into the overall project schedule.
- Collaborate with the project team to identify events and changes that impact the project schedule, support change order management, and develop time impact analyses.
- Conduct project site progress walks to capture accurate and timely scheduling progress data.
- Generate scheduling reports and summaries based on client and project needs, including monthly scheduling progress updates for Operations Review Meetings and other review sessions.
- Provide support and guidance to project end users, both individuals and groups, to help them develop proficiency in using scheduling software.
- Partner with Business Development and Marketing teams to develop and prepare proposal schedules and related scheduling materials for new pursuits.
- Develop and update cost-loaded and/or resource-loaded schedules as requested to support project planning and control.
- Apply continuous improvement methodologies to daily tasks and scheduling operations to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Perform other related activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned to support successful project delivery.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, or a related field.
