Construction Superintendent - Commercial Projects Hood Construction | Full-Time | Columbia, SC (On-Site) Build Projects That Shape Communities

We’re seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead field operations and drive project success from groundbreaking through closeout. What You’ll Do

As the on-site leader, you’ll be responsible for managing daily construction activities while ensuring projects remain safe, on schedule, and built to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all field operations from preconstruction planning through punch list completion
  • Coordinate and oversee subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and inspection activities
  • Maintain project schedules, identify potential risks, and proactively drive solutions
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents to ensure accurate execution
  • Facilitate site meetings and maintain strong communication with project teams, clients, and stakeholders
  • Monitor quality control processes and document project progress using Procore or similar construction management software
  • Supervise and mentor field personnel while coordinating multi-trade construction activities
  • Enforce company safety standards and promote a culture of jobsite safety and accountability
  • Ensure work is completed in compliance with building codes, contract requirements, and company expectations
What You Bring

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience supervising commercial construction projects
  • Proven experience leading complex, multi-trade construction teams
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, building systems, safety regulations, and quality standards
  • Ability to read, interpret, and execute plans, specifications, and construction documents
  • Experience with Procore, Plan Grid, or comparable project management platforms
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred
  • Experience in healthcare, education, hospitality, municipal, or historic renovation projects
  • OSHA certifications or additional safety training
  • Experience managing large-scale commercial projects from start to finish
