The Building People, LLC is seeking a Facilities Construction Manager to support the 81st U.S. Army Reserve Directorate of Public Works (DPW) in Columbia, South Carolina. This role supports mission-critical Army Reserve facilities through field assessments, construction coordination, contractor oversight, infrastructure documentation, project planning, and technical support for federal facilities projects.

Position Summary

The Facilities Construction Manager provides construction management and project support across the planning, field assessment, coordination, and execution phases of Army Reserve construction and real property projects. The role blends contractor oversight, field coordination, facilities documentation, stakeholder communication, and technical review responsibilities.

  • Provide construction management and field coordination support throughout planning, assessment, and execution phases of Army Reserve facilities projects.
  • Support Asset Development Planning (ADP), Master Planning initiatives, and regional forecasting activities.
  • Support infrastructure projects involving roads, bridges, utilities, water systems, buildings, and related facilities by coordinating field information, reviewing project requirements, and documenting recommended actions.
  • Support both office-based planning efforts and field-based construction management activities.
  • Conduct field surveys, utility vault evaluations, and drawing verification activities.
  • Collect and document field data supporting real property and facilities management requirements.
  • Prepare technical reports and field data collection documentation within required project timelines.
  • Assist with development and review of scopes of work, technical documentation, field reports, and construction support materials.
  • Coordinate with government personnel, contractors, and project stakeholders to support successful project execution.
  • Review construction documents for alignment with project requirements, Army standards, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), applicable codes, and field conditions.
  • Support an estimated six infrastructure projects annually.
  • Prepare design packages and construction oversight reports following task completion requirements.
  • Perform periodic travel in support of site assessments and project execution activities. Approximately fifteen (15) site visits per year, averaging three (3) days in duration, are anticipated. All travel will be coordinated and approved in advance by the Government COR.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, facilities management, or a related technical field; equivalent construction or facilities experience may be considered where contractually permitted.
  • Experience overseeing field construction activities, contractor performance, quality control, and project execution.
  • Experience coordinating with contractors, government stakeholders, project teams, and field personnel to support construction execution and issue resolution.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience supporting construction management, facilities projects, field assessments, contractor coordination, quality control, or infrastructure-related work.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and engineering documents.
  • Ability to perform field assessments and travel as required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in construction management, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, architectural engineering, facilities management, or related discipline.
