Position: Program Assistant (Temporary)
Location: Columbia

Job Responsibilities

The Information Center serves as a central point of contact for prospective and current students, faculty, staff, and visitors seeking assistance with college-related inquiries. The individual in this role will primarily support students through in-person interactions, phone calls, and live chat. The primary responsibility is to provide clear, accurate, and professional guidance on a range of topics, including the enrollment process, assessment testing, course requirements, advisement and registration, and both credit and non-credit college services.

This position will be located on the Midlands Technical College Beltline Campus.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree and one (1) year of relevant customer service experience or experience in higher education; or an associate's degree and three (3) years of relevant customer service experience or experience in higher education; or a high school diploma and five (5) years of relevant customer service experience or experience in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to absorb and apply a large volume of procedural information.
• Capability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Familiarity with clerical duties and data entry processes.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Capacity to work effectively in a diverse, multi-ethnic, and multicultural environment, engaging with students, faculty, and staff.
• Willingness to seek support when needed and apply effective coping strategies.
• Collaborative mindset, working well within teams and across departments.
• Consistently upholds and maintains high performance standards.
