Job DescriptionThe CNA instructor is responsible for leading and directing students toward their goal of satisfactory completion of the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) course.
Job Responsibilities- Provide instruction within the CNA program. Teach approved curriculum and course work.
- Assist in patient care and clinical teaching situations, or demonstrate ability to perform tasks successfully.
- Perform administrative duties to support the apprenticeship, including coordinating with Midlands Technical College.
- Coordinate daily calendars/schedules, collect and organize meeting minutes, active apprenticeships, and new apprentices.
- Communicate with current apprentices and potential candidates, including cold calls and managing the waiting list for next cohort start.
- Maintain a current contact list for all apprentices and waiting lists for upcoming cohorts.
- Review applications, schedule interviews, participate in interviews, coordinate offers and pre-employment appointments; coordinate with Midlands Technical College and Apprenticeship Carolina for documentation.
- Send completed initial intake paperwork to Midlands Technical College; coordinate with the IT team at MTC to set up the new class in D2L for new cohorts; register apprentices in Rapids and submit Apprenticeship Carolina paperwork.
- Curriculum updates customized to each cohort in accordance with DHHS standards.
- When cohorts are in session, perform grading of written assignments, create practice assignments, and coordinate with MUSC Health and MTC; coordinate clinicals with units, contact preceptors, and schedule on-the-job training for apprentices.
- Schedule meetings with current independent apprentices to ensure 2000 hours for Apprenticeship Carolina; evaluate students’ progress and provide feedback to help them improve their skills.
- Assist with other duties as needed when cohorts are not in session.
- Education
- Minimum:
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) - Preferred:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - Work Experience
- Minimum:
One (1) year of inpatient RN experience and one (1) year of long-term care, rehab or LPN experience - Preferred:
Three (3) years of inpatient RN experience; skills or didactic teaching experience
Job Description
Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing must enroll in an accredited BSN program within two years and obtain a BSN within four years of hire or reclassification. Refer to policy A141 for details. A minimum of one year of RN work experience required. Licensure as RN by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
