Responsibilities
The adjunct instructor will be responsible for teaching Political Science (American Government) course(s) within the Social and Behavioral Science program. Courses will be primarily taught onsite at dual enrollment high schools during typical school hours. The courses, and by extension, the instructor are under purview of the MTC Department Chair of Social and Behavioral Sciences, as well as the Program Director.
Adjunct instructors are expected to comply with all MTC policies and procedures.
Master's degree in Political Science or a Master's degree in a closely related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Political Science. The adjunct must be available to teach onsite during normal school hours at various locations in Richland, Lexington, or Fairfield counties.
A Master's degree in Political Science, experience teaching college students (especially dual enrollment population), and experience using the D2L Brightspace LMS are the preferred qualifications.
CompensationAdjunct faculty are compensated in accordance with Midlands Technical College's established pay schedule. The standard adjunct rate of $2,914 per three-credit-hour course. Final compensation may vary depending on academic credentials and total course credit hours. Any variation is determined upon hire and outlined in the faculty employment agreement.
