This role is based on full-time employment during the school year. Conditions of employment may be adjusted for part-time employment or individuals hired for less than an entire school year.
RequiredEducation and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable science or related discipline with previous student teaching experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
Valid SC Teaching License (any applicable area). Must have current government issued identification.

- Operates general office and technology equipment needed for daily activities.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding all employee and student information.
- Participates in all professional meetings and training sessions as required.
- Requests and maintains materials needed for daily responsibilities and essential functions; provides for safe storage and proper use of all tools, equipment and materials.
- Supervises students in classroom activities and in other areas as assigned; maintains positive behavior support and classroom management systems.
- Teaches concepts and skills in life science, physical science, general science, earth sciences, biology, chemistry, physics, or physiology; motivates students to acquire knowledge of scientific facts, principles and skills.
- Demonstrates a variety of 21st century teaching skills to foster independent, creative, critical thinkers and problem solvers.
- Designs and facilitates engaging, high level, sophisticated learning experiences and applications appropriate to prepare students for a 21st century global, knowledge-based society.
- Demonstrates and evaluates the effectiveness of both formative and summative assessments; collaborates with other staff members to analyze assessment data in relation to student learning and develops instructional strategies to close the learning and performance gap; evaluates contributions in group projects.
- Collaborates with school and district personnel to evaluate effectiveness of curriculum and make suggestions for improvement.
- Networks with school personnel regarding scheduling issues as appropriate.
- Prepares various records and forms such as lesson plans, daily and weekly activity plans, assessments, material requisitions, discipline reports, etc.
- Organizes classrooms and other settings for daily instruction.
- Maintains accurate records and files.
- Effectively uses personal computing devices and software applications for the management of student records, instructional efficiency, and professional development.
- Meets with parents, administrators and school counselors as needed to discuss student performance, social and emotional needs, behavior, and personal and academic goals and expectations; issues reports in accordance with school board policy to inform parents/ guardians of students' progress; suggests interventions as appropriate.
- If applicable, supervises activities of assigned instructional assistants which involve planning and reviewing work, as well as providing instruction, guidance and training.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Responsible for supervision of students in classrooms, field studies, labs, and other instructional settings. Responsible for maintenance and inventory of equipment; responsible for reporting equipment malfunctions and safety issues.
