Special Education Teacher in Bishopville, SC

A full-time Special Education Teacher opportunity is available for the  school year contract in Bishopville, SC, focusing on elementary education. This role involves working with developmentally delayed and mildly mentally disabled (MIMD) programs within an elementary school setting. The ideal candidate will have experience managing and deescalating behavioral challenges, demonstrating strong classroom management skills tailored to special education needs.

• Teach in developmentally delayed and MIMD programs serving 3rd to 5th-grade students.
• Manage a classroom of approximately 10 students, collaborating closely with a paraprofessional.
• Participate in monthly meetings with Special Education Elementary program directors.
• Collaborate with general education K-5 teachers during twice-weekly Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Educational Development (ED) plans.
• Engage in student progress assessments and maintain accurate documentation.
• Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students with special needs.

• Active South Carolina teaching certification with multi-category endorsement in Special Education.
• Experience working with students who have developmental delays and mild intellectual disabilities.
• Strong behavioral management and deescalation skills in a classroom setting.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with education professionals and support staff.
• Commitment to the educational and social growth of students with special needs.

Onsite at an elementary school in Bishopville, SC.

Contract Duration:
November 17, 2025 – May 22, 2026

Schedule:

Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
