SummaryTo provide engaging and comprehensive instruction and hands‑on training in firefighting techniques, safety protocols, and emergency response procedures. This position plays a role in preparing high school students for potential careers in firefighting and instilling a commitment to public safety.
Responsibilities- Meets with and instructs students in assigned classes at Lexington 2 Innovation Center in the locations and at times designated by administration.
- Plans and follows a program of study in Firefighting that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students while following state standards.
- Establishes clear objectives for all classroom activities and communicates these objectives to students.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Utilizes effective classroom management strategies to create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and developmentally appropriate for students.
- Strives to implement by instruction and action the District’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Takes all the necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Supervises classroom and students.

Education and/or Experience– Bachelor of Arts degree.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsMust possess a valid South Carolina teacher’s certificate in Career and Technical Education – Emergency and Firefighting services. Candidates with a valid Statement of Eligibility from a state‑approved alternative certification such as the DIRECT work‑based licensure program are also encouraged to apply.
Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OtherSkills and Abilities
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; skill in oral and written communication.
