Job Summary

The Marketing Department of the Darla Moore School of Business seeks applications for a professional faculty position to begin August 16, 2026. The position is at the rank of Lecturer (open rank). Appointment at the rank of Lecturer requires a Master’s degree in Marketing or an MBA or its equivalent from an AACSB accredited graduate program and significant industry experience in Marketing or Sales.

The position is subject to the availability of funding. The primary responsibility will be teaching courses focusing on applying marketing principles, product management and/or marketing strategy at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. These courses may include working with student teams on experiential learning projects. The standard teaching load for lecturers is seven courses during the academic year. This position also requires engagement in the Center for Sales and Marketing Leadership and activities required to maintain the appropriate faculty qualifications status within the AACSB framework.

Contributions to center activities may include, but are not limited to, supporting the management of student events and engaging in business outreach to support the development of center partner relationships, internships and student placement efforts.

Responsibilities
  • Teach courses in marketing principles, product management, and marketing strategy at undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Develop and deliver experiential learning projects in collaboration with student teams.
  • Maintain a teaching load of seven courses per academic year.
  • Participate in the Center for Sales and Marketing Leadership activities and support student events.
  • Engage in business outreach for center partner relationships, internships, and student placement.
Required Education & Experience

Appointment at the rank of Lecturer requires at least a Master’s degree in Marketing or an MBA or its equivalent from an AACSB-accredited institution, plus the qualifications below by the start date of employment.

Required Qualifications
  • Significant experience in Marketing and Sales roles (e.g., proven track record of success as practitioner with expertise in marketing strategy, product/brand management, brand development, new product development, development of strategic plans, new business development).
  • Understanding of current marketing trends and tools (e.g., relevant basics of marketing in changing technological environment).
  • Ability to translate insights and analytics into strategy (e.g., leveraging research findings to develop product plans, develop strategic/creative insights, create agency briefs, and lead cross-functional teams in the development of marketing strategies).
  • Experience teaching at the university level and/or training early career industry professionals (e.g., understanding nuances of GenZ learning styles, developing relevant baseline skills in a distracted and reluctant population).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Teach applications of the 4 P’s and help students apply these fundamentals to create a marketing plan based on a project with a “client company.”
  • Teach basics of product/brand management; serve as a teacher and advisor to students in the creation of a marketing plan/strategic brief or business development plan based on insights.
  • Help students create meaningful and impactful presentations.
  • Serve as the liaison between industry partners and the University.
