The faculty of the Psychology Department at the University of South Carolina, Columbia campus, invites applications for a 9-month, full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor to begin August 16, 2026. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research related to children and prevention, to vigorously pursue external research grants, and to contribute to the Department’s academic mission through undergraduate and graduate teaching commensurate with their background and areas of expertise.
RequiredEducation and Experience
- The position requires a doctoral degree in psychology or a related field by the start date of employment, and a demonstrated record of research productivity and potential for excellence in teaching.
- The Department seeks candidates with particular interest in prevention science focusing on early or middle childhood.
- Researchers interested in prevention strategies to benefit young children, involving for example family, school, or community settings, and potentially addressing dual outcomes of health and psychological well-being, are encouraged to apply.
