AdvertisedJob Summary
The School of Information Science (iSchool) at the University of South Carolina (USC) invites applications for a full-time professional-track faculty position to begin August 16, 2026. Appointment may be at the Teaching Assistant Professor or Instructor level, depending on qualifications and unit criteria. The successful candidate will teach courses related to user experience research and design; the social and ethical dimensions of AI and data analytics;
cybersecurity in organizational contexts; information integrity and media literacy; and the role of data and information in shaping policy, organizations, and society.
- Teach undergraduate courses, with opportunities to teach at the graduate level. Courses may be delivered in face-to-face, online, or hybrid formats.
- Participate in shared governance and service activities.
The iSchool at the University of South Carolina currently offers a Bachelor of Science in Information Science, an online Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS), and a PhD in Library and Information Science. Our active faculty are members, scholars, and leaders within the American Library Association (ALA), Association for Information Science & Technology (ASIS&T), and Association of Library and Information Science Educators (ALISE).
The MLIS program and school library program are nationally ranked in the top 20 by U.S. News & World Report.
