Position SummaryThe University of South Carolina, Columbia campus, invites applications for a 9‑month, full‑time, tenure‑track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin on August 16, 2026. We seek a biologist who addresses fundamental questions in evolutionary genetics. The successful candidate will join our graduate group in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology and will be responsible for establishing an independent, extramurally funded research program in evolutionary genetics.
The candidate will also teach undergraduate and graduate courses in biology and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research.
- Develop and maintain a rigorous, independent research program in evolutionary genetics, secured through extramural funding.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in biology and related fields.
- Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research projects and career development.
- Participate in departmental service, faculty meetings, and departmental outreach activities.
- Ph.D. in biology or a closely related discipline.
- At least one year of postdoctoral research experience in biology by the start date of employment.
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in research, teaching, and service.
- Strong track record of scholarly publications and a clear vision for future research.
