Trinity Collegiate School seeks a skilled, student-centered Science Teacher to serve students in the Middle School and/or High School divisions. The ideal candidate is committed to helping students develop scientific literacy, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and curiosity about the natural world through engaging instruction, hands‑on learning, and meaningful application. This teacher will collaborate closely with the Academic Coordinator and Director of Academics to deliver rigorous instruction aligned with Trinity’s mission and academic expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instruction and Curriculum- Teach science courses in Middle School and/or High School as assigned (Life Science, Earth Science, Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, Honors/AP as applicable).
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons that promote inquiry, observation, experimentation, data analysis, and evidence‑based reasoning.
- Create unit plans, assessments, lab activities, and learning experiences aligned with course goals and school expectations.
- Differentiate instruction to support varied learners while maintaining appropriate rigor and clear learning targets.
- Integrate instructional technology, digital simulations, and science‑related tools/resources to enhance learning and engagement.
- Design and supervise safe, meaningful laboratory and hands‑on activities that reinforce scientific concepts and process skills.
- Teach and enforce laboratory safety procedures, proper equipment use, and responsible handling/disposal of materials.
- Maintain an organized classroom/lab environment, including preparation, inventory, and care of equipment and supplies.
- Follow school policies and applicable guidelines related to student safety and science instruction.
- Use formative checks (quizzes, lab reflections, discussions, exit tickets) and summative assessments to monitor progress and adjust instruction.
- Maintain accurate grade records and provide timely, actionable feedback to students and families.
- Support students through targeted intervention, reteaching, review sessions, and enrichment opportunities as needed.
- Promote strong academic habits, organization, and scientific thinking skills.
- Establish a structured, respectful classroom environment that encourages curiosity, questions, collaboration, and growth mindset.
- Model professionalism, patience, and positivity while holding students accountable to high standards.
- Collaborate with support personnel and families when students need additional academic or behavioral support.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, curriculum planning, and required training.
- Fulfill supervision duties and contribute to school events and community life as assigned.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, students, and colleagues in a timely and professional manner.
- Uphold Trinity Collegiate School policies, procedures, and expectations.
- Work collaboratively with the Academic Coordinator and Director of Academics to align curriculum, strengthen vertical articulation, and support student achievement.
- Partner with colleagues across disciplines to reinforce scientific literacy, problem‑solving, and analytical thinking.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Science Education, or a related field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science).
- Demonstrated ability to teach science effectively in Middle School and/or High School settings.
- Strong communication skills and strong organizational skills.
- Commitment to student growth, academic excellence, and a mission‑driven school environment.
- Master’s degree in Science, Education, or related field.
